Salva Moreno of Psicodreamics is the predominate musician widely recognized in Continental Europe, the U.K. and overseas markets, where his unique form of fantasy and mythology inspired discography easily creates a magical divide from many New Age artists.

Valencia Spain is where Salva takes the stage to portray his principal role as Psicodreamics master of ceremonies, and into the hypnotic realm of the dark unknown. He exploits this select style of fantasy music cloaked in an intriguing shroud of mystery every time, as if he were a music magician pulling another album out of a black hat.

AzhDark Passion is a project based on a novel by Tanith Lee titled Night’s Master, and although composed years ago, the project is relevant today as it was yesteryear.

In a surreal form of Ambient, New Age, Neo Classical, and Chill Out, with symphonic interludes, the 12 songs offer one a chance to make their own conclusions about his openly mysterious music, performed to the beat of her chilling adventurous novel.

Psicodreamics beautiful array of mysterious albums make a great contradiction in sound and effect, becoming like a roller coaster ride of sensations, where you are taken close to the thrilling edge, but without the danger of losing your grip and falling into complete darkness.

Title song AzhDark Passion is a perfect example since the first few measures in music immediately place you in a past century, watching a cloaked figure on a black horse drawn carriage that steadily travels past you on a cobblestone street, before disappearing into the night.

The Sweetest Gift is gentle like a soft lullaby making you feel safe and sound, but a hint of mystery lurking in the shadows is waiting behind each note. Song of the Living Night conjures up much of the commingled fight verses flight feelings also, since woodwinds lull you into a relaxed state of mind by the bright melody, while symphonic undercurrents make you suddenly realize that creatures of the night may actually live under your bed.

The Forge places an emphasis on choral vocals harmonizing in unison, while percussion timpani drums add precise measurements of rhythm as if an alchemist were adding ingredients to a copper caldron.

Morning Light features Priscilla Hernandez in contrasting female vocals to become the silver lining in this song, blending with generous percussion and sound effects full of mystery, in a rhythmic pace that balances together quite well, considering colorful vocals are encased by darker images from the distant past.

Electronic in New Age music plays many roles, and the select role of mystery and imagination Salva Moreno performs as a musician, is composed using an effective sleight of hand that magically transports you into a world of fantasy.

The Ambiethernum album is a compilation of Psicodreamics best Ambient and Space music from his many projects to date, and is a great way to discover more about the magic behind Salva Moreno. You can also read my album reviews and our recent interview together by visiting our pages dedicated to Psicodreamics here. Visit psicodreamics.com website or click here to sample. You may also sample at CD Baby.

Depending on who you talk to, Vampires Do Exist in modern society. It is a known fact that there is a very small segment of people living today, who either believe in vampires or practice vampirism using the typical rituals, and everyone is aware of what those rituals embody. Most people find this extremely unnerving and even more frightening by having this knowledge, than from their viewing any fictional vampire movie at the theatre.

I find it fortunate that our friend Salva Moreno from Valencia Spain, having the artist title Psicodreamics does not believe in real life vampires, but only conjures up fantasy and mythological inspired music for our entertainment purposes only. For example Theatre des Vampires from 2006, on his Witches on the Radiowaves label, provides the creative blueprint to project intriguing images into the darker realms of the supernatural.

Theatre des Vampires is laid out as a psychological thriller, portraying these images in classic form by a fine mixture of New Age, Ambient, Chill Out, Neo Classic and Gothic formats. This is not a rare occurrence for this composing musician who has 9 projects specializing in fantasy and mythology tales, all of which are well done.

Theatre des Vampires is laid out as a psychological thriller

This album portrays a mystic cloak and dagger sound design with all of the thrill and chill musical effects to keep you in suspense, along with some of the sharp pointed edges you would expect from an album having a mysterious theme about vampires.

The album title song Theatre des Vampires goes directly to the throat by injecting a heart throbbing tempo with a hypnotic feel using a duel guitar and piano arrangement. This song is laced with theatrical drama by the eerie piano strokes that appear to compete in a battle of wills with the rival guitar melody, parlayed as if reaching out for every strained note within reach. The synthetic percussion effects of woodblock, tenor and bass drums, share character roles on the stage with the tympani drum’s surprise entrances that occur when you least expect it, but in perfect timing given the songs unsettling subject matter.

The song Daylight Belonging is Classical Goth, transporting you back to a period in antiquity when the world was believed to be flat, and well intending physicians prescribed bloodletting as standard medical practice. This mystic piece exploits a provisional piano and guitar duet to create subliminal elements of the supernatural, conjuring images in this fictional fantasy world.

When veiled choral vocals echo through out their nightly refrains, an apparent struggle of give and take between piano runs, strings, and pipe organ instrumentals occur at the least expected moment. Bold percussion with cymbal entrances give off a dark hissing sound behind pauses in the primary piano melody, as tympani drums lightly pulsate in a cardiac like rhythm during this eventful episode. Each of the 11 songs in this project embrace musical elements full of surprise and drama as described by their individual cryptic titles.

Salva has a unique approach for producing designer mood music using a macabre blueprint, all with an abundance of theatrical effect shown in a dramatic way to leave you breathless.

Discover the fantasy by reading our recent interview, a recent review of Fantasynth and the Ambiethernum review which by the way, is a compilation of Psicodreamics best Ambient and Space music from previous albums. The websites to visit are Psicodreamics.com, myspace.com/psicodreamics and cdbaby.com/all/psicodreamics

John P. Olsen, contributing author for newagemusic.nu, has conducted an interview with Salva Moreno of Psicodreamics about his New Age music projects for our visitors below.

John: I am glad to have this chance for our visitors to learn more about the man behind the music of Psicodreamics. After doing my recent reviews of your Fantasynth and Ambiethernum albums, it is great to talk with you again Salva. You are recognized as the emerging New Age artist in Spain. Why did you begin your career in New Age Ambient music?

Salva: In the 1980′s I was excited about Fantasy tales, Legends and Mythology and I enjoyed the excitement involved with these themes. In addition I discovered musicians like Constance Demby, Enya and Vangelis, and I realized this kind of music was like a soundtrack that made myself imagine adventures in a world of fantasy. Then I decided to create my personal fantasy music world taking New Age music like a seed in my music career. New Age was an interesting starting point, but during the last years, I have been developing my own style closest to Ambient and Chill Out with a little bit of Goth flavor.

John: You have worked on several projects with other international musicians. Who are the artists involved and what were the projects you did together?

Salva: I have collaborated with many musicians all over the world. I remember my first one with the USA artist Frances Lyons, a.k.a. Godot, in the track The Gift, included in my album Eternal Angel. She composed a beautiful piano melody in her studio for me. I was mysteriously charmed by this incredible track when I listened to it for the first time. Then I requested a midi file of the song to develop with ethereal choirs and effects. We both enjoyed the final result after airing in the radioshow Blue Water Drift Dive, hosted by Darrell Burgan. I will never forget that experience.

One year after, I collaborated with Gothic songwriter Priscilla Hernandez in the track Morning Light, and electronic artist Alidan with the track The Garden of Strange Beings, both songs are included in my album Azhdark Passion. Finally, in my 2006 release Theatre des Vampires, it was an honor to include Ramon Mendigorri, playing the electric guitar on the track Theatre des Vampires and Nestor Mora, a.k.a. Rosten Jim, collaborating in Daylight Belonging.

John: The Theatre Des Vampires and Ambiethernum albums have both received considerable air time with online radio stations, even before their actual release. Are they your most successful albums to date?

Salva: Yes they are. Theatre des Vampires and Ambiethernum are what I consider the best ambient space music of Psicodreamics, and have been a great success in radio air time, magazines, and sales. For instance Ambiethernum was included in the charts of New Age Reporter during six consecutive months and the long running New Age radioshow Hearts of Space, hosted by Stephen Hill aired one track of each album last year. Recently my brand new album from 2009 Fantasynth, has debuted in many radioshows like John Diliberto’s Echoes, and many more. Now I am waiting anxiously for my first debut on your station New Age Stars, for feedback and opinions from your listeners.

John: Many other people have tried to describe your music, including myself, so what would be your own description of your music when describing to another person?

Salva: This is the million dollar question John. I have always had a problem defining my own music. I use one or two brief sentences to define my music very quickly: Discover mythology through the music, and emotional melodies for dreaming. I could make an even more accurate definition: An Ambient music soundtrack inspired by Fantasy tales and Mythology, with a light Gothic touch.

John: When composing and performing your music, what is your intent, or what thoughts and images are you trying to get across to the listener?

Salva: I usually compose music inspired by fantasy themes. Each album has a title or a main theme that makes people know an initial idea or a first approach to the album. Nevertheless, music is a mysterious language that a listener can experiment in different ways. I think the music is a vehicle to set the imagination free, and I want the listener tho have all the freedom there is to imagine.

I use one or two brief sentences to define my music very quickly: Discover mythology through the music, and emotional melodies for dreaming.

John: When you first begin composing an album, do you already have your mind set on the material contained in an album, or do you compose the album during production only?

Salva: Sometimes I have a general idea before starting a music project, then I begin to develop it during the production process. With others, I can find inspiration when I play the keyboards and then listen for some ideas to develop. There is not a systematic way to create an album. The creative process is a mysterious thing and you know how I enjoy mysteries.

John: You said that you create Fantasy and Myth inspired projects like Theatre des Vampires, that I will review soon, so what first influenced you to compose Fantasy and Myth theme oriented music ?

Salva: Like you and I have discussed, I am a great fan of Fantasy and Mythology themes, and years ago I decided to create my own music world to feel fantasy in a personal way. For example: I have composed albums inspired by mythological beings like angels, as in Eternal Angel 2003, and vampires as in Theatre des Vampires 2006, all inspired by fantasy books like Tanith’s Lee’s Night’s Master, evident in my 2004 Azhdark Passion album.

John: You currently have 9 great albums available and have told me about using video material soon, and plans for changes on your already beautiful website. Could you give us some details about your future projects you have planned?

Salva : I have many projects in mind but not much time to start them. Recently I have released a new album titled Fantasynth and now I want to take a brief parenthesis in composing music until the end of 2009. During the rest of the year, I have scheduled development of my visual art, creating some music videos. I have also planned some projects for 2010 or 2011, of J.R.R. Tolkien, Silmarilion, and other books inspired by fairies.

John: Fantasynth is the latest release you are promoting and have stated it is designed for persons who are non conformists to most commercial music. What does Fantasynth have to offer, and what thoughts or emotions do you want to allow a listener to feel?

Salva: Yes, that is right. Fantasynth is an album that fuses genres and styles as different as Ambient, New Age, Down Tempo, and Chill Out, mixing not only Ethnic and Symphonic instrumentation and orchestration, but synthesized sounds and effects on a more actual and innovatory musical outlook. This album is specifically indicated for non conformists that refuse commercial tendencies and look for something more in their music. This album is an invitation to dive into a new world of fantasy and imagination, where contemporary instrumental music blends with rhythm and percussion in a feast of sensations and emotions. I try to surprise my fans who follow the musical adventures of Psicodreamics, and hook those people listening for the very first time. It is not just another musical adventure for dreaming while you are awake, but a festival of emotions and fantasy where sound and rhythm will seduce your inner soul in a frenetic dance with a unique purpose: Recovering the innocence lost since our childhood.

John: Is there anything you would like to comment on that I didn’t ask in the interview Salva ?

Salva: I would like to invite your readers to visit my website psicodreamics.com and myspace.com/psicodreamics and discover more about the musical projects of Psicodreamics. They are also welcomed to listen to all of my albums on the website. Purchases can be made through CD Baby, and the best digital download sites like iTunes, Amazon mp3, Napster, eMusic, and Rhapsody, among others.

John: Thanks you Salva for finding time to give everyone insight into your music, and sharing your thoughts. I have enjoyed our past conversations, and look forward to writing about your music in the future.

Salva: Thank you for this interesting interview, and for your great website devoted to New Age music, and your visiting fans.

The Ambiethernum Album, on his own Witches on the Radiowaves label, is a thought provoking score strategically designed to place the listener in a picturesque state of mind.

Psicodreamics has achieved a dramatic ambient theme in the 12 tracks intended to arouse the imagination, giving the listener a chance to sit back, close their eyes, then drift along with the music to any imaginary realm they choose to fathom.

One could even conceive a celestial theme encounter by picturing a NASA Space Shuttle Voyage to the $ 1.5 Billion Hubble Space Telescope 360 miles / 575 kilometers away, presently undergoing enhancement. Please use caution upon your arrival to Hubble, since one complete orbit circling the globe every 97 minutes, equals a speed of 17,000 mph / 28,000 kph. Those brave enough for an unsurpassed expedition may venture an astounding 93 Billion Light Years towards the outer observable edge of our universe.

a thought provoking score strategically designed to place the listener in a picturesque state of mind.

The Ambiethernum Album does give you this break through opportunity in imagination by the surreal spatial sound effects, exploring with a point of calm and composure in your virtual musical travel through the galaxy without ever losing your equilibrium.

The ambient aspects of earlier projects are also present by abundant chill out that permit an emotion to be felt. Guided mostly by the deep, dark extended note overtones, keyboard compositions, and synthesized presence of woodwind, string, and abundance of unique percussion effects which are strongly emphasized. The timely appearance of a Symphonic and Orchestra presence adds to the depth and dimension that is light and airy at one moment, only to reappear as a dark and heavier tones in the next phase, increasing the overall intensity.

Natural Animal Effects make their voices known from time to time, adding to character involvement during this make believe encounter. Another thought in utilizing this deep and mysterious music could be as a documentary or soundtrack background score for science fiction, mystery, or even horror themed movies, since the atmospheric content would enhance practically every movie moment in those genres.

Ambiethernum Track 10 in particular makes a theatrical eerie presence known quite dramatically, and could easily be pictured as an excellent horror movie score, if used in that context.

Salva has agreed to an Artist Interview and judging by our recent discussions, this interview promises to give everyone a chance to better understand his point of view, and why he has chosen multi dimensional ambient instrumentals as a means to express himself. I am certain he is well prepared to answer your questions related to those close encounters involving relative time and space.

It is always welcomed news here at newagemusic.nu and when talented artists from around the world contact us with information of a new album release, or even informing us of their presence in the music business. Salva Moreno, a composer from Spain performing his note by note magic under the artist title Psicodreamics might not be as well known as an artist in the U.S. but many readers are aware that Salva Moreno has gained the wider recognition he deserves in the Continental Europe, U.K. and overseas market having 8 previous albums with increasing popularity and success. We are pleased to review the very latest 2009 album titled Fantasynth independently published under his own Witches on the Radiowaves label.

Persons will find Psicodreamics is past and presently New Age Electronica in nature, containing a mixture of genre defined as ambient, goth and classic styled in presentation, offering the listener a deep form of chill out and as the album title suggests, dream like in atmosphere and composition of all the many songs I sampled. Fantasynth is as vibrant and creative as other works previously composed, and I did enjoy his latest release. Without a doubt this latest album and past works were thoughtfully produced and the song titled Spellbound was one favorite primarily because of a pleasant melody and synthesized undercurrents that reminded me of some unfamiliar locale or distant place yet to be discovered.

Sleepy Sorrow offers enchanting chorals, bells, a steady cello and oboe harmony which seemed to battle and compete for the upper hand at times, only to kindly resolve as close allies at the songs ending. The La Rosa De Los Vientos track has a nice mid tempo there which included woodwind overtones with interest and movement ever present as with all tracks in the latest Salva Moreno interpretation of music which again is captured with rhythm and style.

The music of Salva Moreno as artist title Psicodreamics can best be likened to a good mystery novel that is full of interest and intrigue at every turned page for the reader. Music fans will find this description similar to the new Fantasynth album which is interesting and well managed throughout. I do like the depth, myth styled settings, and ever present change of atmosphere in the 13 songs contained on this newest album which incidentally would also provide an excellent music score for mystery or science fiction themed movies.

Readers will also want to explore for themselves by visiting the official website Psicodreamics.com which offers an equally beautiful website with everything needed to explore the mystique and fantasy behind the dream.
